MFL TEACHER & BOARDING

St. John’s  School  seeks to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and suitably qualified Residential Teacher of MFL to join us on our journey. Applications are considered from both experienced and newly qualified teachers. Candidates should be able to teach Spanish up to GCSE. St John’s School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 2 -16, located on a hill overlooking the sea in the beautiful Regency town of Sidmouth. We are a relatively small school that caters for around 200 local day pupils combined with a 50 strong contingent of international boarders from more than 10 countries around the globe.

SUMMER SCHOOL ACTIVITY LEADERS

The Role

St. John’s  School  are looking for  Activity Leaders for our Summer Camp to lead activities, field trips and social events for groups of  international students. From organising student parties and sports tournaments, to leading day trips and weekend excursions, this is a high-energy, non-stop kind of 3 week summer job that is as rewarding and fun as it is challenging.

Responsibilities

  • Organise, plan and lead a full schedule of activities, games, sports, field trips and excursions.
  • Assist with student arrivals and departures.
  • Attend all Activity Leader briefings.
  • Liaise with your Activities Manager to monitor daily attendance.
  • Collect, log and bank money for optional excursions and activities.
  • Deal with problems and emergency situations should they arise.
  • Work effectively within a team to deliver excellence in customer experience.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Candidate Profile

  • Enthusiastic, confident and energetic.
  • A natural leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and punctual.
  • Goes above and beyond, never settling for status quo.
  • Maintains a balance between professionalism and fun.
  • Comfortable leading activities, social events, sports activities and excursions for groups of  students.
  • Ideally have Life guard qualifications
  • Ideally have first aid or some form of medical experience.
  • Fluency in English – spoken and written.

SENIOR (SECONDARY) SCHOOL IPGCE STUDENT PLACEMENT

St John’s  School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 2 -18, located on a hill overlooking the sea in the beautiful Regency town of Sidmouth. We are a relatively small school that caters for around 200 local day pupils combined with a 50 strong contingent of international boarders from more than 10 countries around the globe.

St. John’s School are offering  a Teacher Training programme through Buckingham University, lasting 1 academic year (September-July).

You will experience:

  • An outstanding and supportive team of teachers,
  • Excellent quality of mentoring,
  • University tuition fees covered,
  • Accommodation and food,
  • A wide range of options for Year groups and specialisms.

Teachers will be placed in partnership with a Subject Specialist Teacher, covering Years 7-11 for an academic year, either observing or teaching lessons. Accommodation and food in exchange for work in evenings and weekends within boarding house.

BOARDING STAFF

We welcome applications from team players to join our Boarding Houses who will undertake a variety of roles to support our Boarding Housemaster. We would welcome applications in particular from candidates who could combine  subject teaching with boarding duties.
